Kyle wins a record-setting 21st victory across all three of NASCAR's national tour series. His 21st and final season victory came in the NASCAR Nationwide Series' O'Reilly Challenge at Texas Motor Speedway aboard Joe Gibbs Racing's No. 18 Farm Bureau Insurance Toyota. Kyle started fourth and led 174 of 200 laps.For the season, Kyle won eight Sprint Cup races, ten Nationwide Series races, and three Craftsman Truck Series races.

At the young age of 16, Kyle drove his first-ever NASCAR race for Roush Racing in the No. 99 Edon Ford Truck at Indianapolis Raceway Park in the Power Stroke Diesel 200. Kyle started the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race in 23rd and finished ninth for a top 10 in his first career NASCAR start.Kyle was later determined to be too young for NASCAR's minimum age of 18 to compete on a national tour series.
