Race Recap for the Pocono 400

Race Winner:  Ryan Blaney of Wood Brothers Racing (Ford)


Stage 1 Recap (Laps 1-50):

● Kyle Busch started first, finished first.

● After starting from the top spot, Busch led for the first 17 laps and said his M&M’s Red, White, and Blue Toyota Camry was handling quite well.

● On Lap 18, Busch pitted for four tires and fuel. He then retook the lead on lap 35 when Erik Jones pitted for the first time.

● Busch won Stage 1, his fourth stage win of 2017.

Stage 2 Recap (Laps 51-100):

● Busch started third, finished second.

● On Lap 60, Busch took the lead from Jones and held the top spot until lap 90.

● Busch had a 12-second lead and pitted on Lap 91 for four tires and fuel.

● He finished second behind Kyle Larson at the conclusion of Stage 2.

 Stage 3 Recap (Laps 101-160):

● Busch started first, finished ninth.

● While other cars pitted after Stage 2, Busch stayed out on track and led from laps 102 to 124.

● On lap 125, Busch said the car was handling well, and he pitted for four tires and fuel.

● Busch took the lead on lap 141 when Brad Keselowski pitted and then the caution came out for an accident involving Kasey   Kahne.

● Busch and Keselowski lined up first and second when the race restarted on lap 148, but several cars behind them pitted, and with fresher tires, eventual winner Ryan Blaney passed Busch on lap 151. Busch fell back to ninth when the checkered flag fell.



● Busch led five times for 100 laps. Both were race highs.

● Busch has now surpassed 13,000 laps led, becoming just the 11th NASCAR driver to do so. He has led a total of 13,059 laps.

● This is Busch’s seventh top-10 of 2017.
